No signal
Most “no signal” on a desktop with a graphics card is the cable in the motherboard ports, the monitor on the wrong input, or a power cable that is not clicked in.
This is nationwide remote help across the United States. We meet on Discord, Zoom, or TeamViewer.
- Cable in the GPU, not the motherboard. If you have a graphics card, use the ports on the card. The horizontal I/O row on the motherboard stays dark when the machine is using the card.
- Monitor input matches the cable. HDMI 1 vs HDMI 2 vs DisplayPort. A lit panel with “no signal” is often the wrong input.
- Reseat GPU power, then the card. Power off and unplug. The GPU 8-pin (or 12VHPWR) must click. Then reseat the card in the top slot. Try one RAM stick if it never reaches a picture.
- One cable, one monitor for the first test. Extra adapters and HDMI-to-DP dongles fail in ways that look like a dead GPU.
- Fans spin, no picture can still be RAM or a card that is not seated. Fans plus no POST beep/debug LEDs is a live session, not a parts order from a photo.
What Pulse will do
Talk you through which port, which input, and what to reseat while you are at the desk. We can see the screen once you have a picture or a phone camera on the case. Standard help is $60/hour. Rate at booking is binding.
What Pulse will not do
We will not ship a GPU, promise a dead card comes back, or run a drop-off shop. If the board never POSTs, we will say so. We will not treat a laptop with a black lid as a desktop GPU swap.
